Highlighter

Who wouldn’t like to look like a mermaid with dewy and glowing healthy looking skin? But if you think that is impossible to achieve then you are wrong. Another one of the latest makeup trends to go viral is the use of a highlighter. It does the opposite of contouring and highlights your features to attract more attention to them.

Highlighting is a makeup trend that has gained a lot of popularity in recent years and does not seem to be going anywhere. Every person is obsessed with the technique but most do not know how to execute the proper method of using a highlighter correctly. The technical term in the makeup world for using a highlighter on your face is “strobing”.

To highlight, you first need a highlighting product that’s in a light or brightening color. Highlighting is done to “highlight” the high points of your face and bring a healthy glow to your features. It allows you to look like you have healthy skin that is glowing from within no matter if you haven’t eaten or slept properly in the past couple of days. You can manage to sculpt your face using a highlighter as well by simply highlighting the high points to take attention away from the rest of the face.

The basic areas where you should highlight are the tops of the cheekbones, inner corner of the eyes, nose, chin, the brow bone and the cupid’s bow. You do have to keep in mind that if you use shimmery highlighters as they can maximize and bring attention to your pores. You can apply matte or non-shimmery ones if you do not want that to happen.

Highlighters come in many forms including powder, sticks, cream or liquid. They are also available in many colors that can go with whatever color scheme you have chosen for your makeup look. If you wish to achieve a subtle glow then you can use a non-shimmery highlighter in neutral tones that will blend in well with your skin. Or if you want a more bright and eye-catching look, then buy some shimmery ones in a color you like.
